IAC Accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound Imaging

The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) is a nationally recognized organization that provides accreditation programs dedicated to ensuring quality patient care and promoting excellence in healthcare. Its mission is simple: to improve healthcare through accreditation.

Vascular Vein Centers has been an IAC-accredited vascular lab since 2010, consistently meeting rigorous standards and undergoing regular reviews to ensure compliance with the most up-to-date guidelines. This accreditation demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the highest level of safety, quality, and patient-centered care.

Our highly trained vascular sonographers are an essential part of your care team. They play a crucial role in every step of our Cycle of Care, from diagnostic evaluation to ongoing treatment planning. Each of our six convenient locations — Orlando (College Park), East Orlando (Waterford Lakes), Kissimmee, Lake Mary, The Villages, and Davenport/Haines City — offers accredited ultrasound services.

Why Accredited Ultrasound Matters
More than half of Americans over the age of 50 are affected by varicose veins. This condition occurs when the valves in the leg veins are damaged, causing blood to pool in the legs. In some cases, varicose veins can progress to a more serious condition called chronic venous insufficiency (CVI).

Ultrasound is the gold standard for evaluating vein health, but venous ultrasound studies are technically complex and depend heavily on the skill of the person performing them. At Vascular Vein Centers, our sonographers are not only certified but also highly skilled in vascular imaging, ensuring accurate results and the best possible care.

By choosing an IAC-accredited facility, you can be confident you’re receiving care that has been thoroughly reviewed and meets the highest standards in vascular imaging.

What is an Ultrasound?
Ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive test that uses high-frequency sound waves to create detailed images of structures inside the body. At Vascular Vein Centers, your exam will be performed by a specially trained sonographer who gently moves a small device called a transducer over your skin. The sound waves travel into the body, bounce back, and are converted into real-time images on a screen.

In addition to standard imaging, we also use Doppler ultrasound to evaluate blood flow and assess the health of your veins. This advanced technique helps detect issues such as blockages, valve problems, or other vascular conditions.

During your diagnostic ultrasound at Vascular Vein Centers:

  • You may be asked to stand for part of the exam. This allows us to capture images under normal daily conditions, when pressure is naturally placed on your veins, rather than only when lying down.
  • The procedure is completely safe and has no adverse effects.
  • We use state-of-the-art GE Healthcare ultrasound machines to ensure the highest-quality imaging.
  • After your scan, your provider will review the results with you and create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Ultrasound is a quick, painless, and reliable way to better understand your vein health and guide your care.

Why Might I Need a Diagnostic Ultrasound?
Your provider may recommend a diagnostic ultrasound if there are signs of a problem with your circulation. This safe, non-invasive test allows us to see how well blood is flowing through your veins and check for any underlying issues.

With ultrasound imaging, we can:

  • Identify faulty vein valves that may cause conditions such as chronic venous insufficiency, varicose veins, chronic leg swelling, or lymphedema.
  • Detect blood clots (deep vein thrombosis, or DVT) and evaluate any damage or blockages they may be causing.
  • Guide treatments for vein disease, including sclerotherapy and endovenous laser therapy, ensuring safe and precise care.

Diagnostic ultrasound is an essential tool that helps us find the root cause of your symptoms and tailor the best treatment plan for your vein health.
